Ohh the fatigue is awful..... I have been sick for the past 4 weeks with strep throat... thought it was getting better only to get it back again.....  Well I of course have not been on my cimzia due to the infection.  For the past 2 weekends I have stayed in the bed...literally.  Back at work today but just barely made it.  Anyone know how long it will take the Cimzia to start working again?  I took one shot on Thursday of last week.  With it being an every other week injection I was just wondering if anyone had any idea? I hate to keep calling my rheumy even though he is awesome I know he has other patients to take care of.

Hi Peggy, when I have had to come off humira to fight pneumonia, it can take 2 months to get it back to full coverage again. I guess it depends on the half life of the cimzia and how long you've been off it, how much of it is still in your system.

Thanks so much golitho... I actually started to feel a little better yesterday and today is much better. Still doesnt take much to fatigue me but at least I am back at work. After two weekends in the bed and going to bed for about two weeks around 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. I think it has helped. Boy this is some rough stuff. I have more fatigue than pain with mine. Wonder how many other folks suffer more with the fatigue than the pain? Kind of weird.

Hi, for me the fatigue is one of the worst factors of this disease. I woke up this morning and felt I had a good nights rest. Worked for a while then headed off to the Doc and by the time I got home I was wiped OUT and this was by noon.

I work in IT and it makes it really hard to stay sharp when your eyes are rolling into the back of your head. I have my keyboard in-printed on my forehead some days and I always get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Alot of mornings after getting plenty of down time I wake up and Im exhausted still. This disease can be a real viscous circle of pain/fatigue. Is it just me or does anyone else go through the cycle of not feeling like you are rested even when you have gotten plenty of rest?

Don, Yes I do that alot.... I am sorry that it is like that for you as well. Like this morning, I felt sooo good when I woke up. I am at work now and I am feeling weak again after just getting here. I have no pain this morning but fatigue and weakness. Feels like I have been at work for several hours already. I like you get plenty of rest. I was asleep by 9:30 last night and did not wake up during the night (which is unusual for me) slept till the clock went off and still after awhile of being up I'm already fatigued.... I hate this as I used to be a very busy person. Always on the go and doing things. Not so much anymore.

Hi and this is my first post! I actually signed up because of this very conversation. The fatigue is worse than the joint pain for me. Some days I can barely drive myself home from work, thankfully I have a very short commute (less than 10 miles). I'm currently on Humira, but am considering changing to Embrel. I've been on the Humira now for about 6 years, and its not working as long, and is taking longer to kick in. But OH! the fatigue. It's hard to put it into words, but sometimes I'm so tired, I actually feel feverish and get chills, like flu symptoms.

I am so sorry knitnerd... I understand completely. The weird thing is my husband has RA as well and he is on Enbrel and his fatigue is not like mine. He actually has more pain episodes. Which I might say he does wonderfully on the Enbrel even with the flares he gets(he causes some of his with the work he does... which he doesnt have to do..lol). He is retired but loves working on the farm. Just kind of odd that it effects us all differently. I have battled with the fatigue soooo bad lately but I have had two bouts of strep throat and had to be off of my meds for awhile.

Melissa,

Do you have night sweats at all? With fatigue, fever and chills it might be a good idea to check for TB if you havent been checked for a while.....not the skin test though. It would show negative because of the prednisone use. Drs usually don't think to check for this but it has been an issue with me so my ears perk up when I hear someone on Humira mention some of the symptoms.

Sometimes I think I need to name my alteregos. Fannie fatigue and delicate doris. Then there is tammy toe-pain. Sit them down and tell them to be quiet! Like kids into time out!

I like that idea Lhowemt, I'll add in Wanda wristpain and Holly heels or maybe Archy archilles. I'm really suffering today from fatigue. I woke up tired and I'm struggling to get my jobs done. Luckily I'm not at work today but some days I am just OH So Tired I want to spend the day in bed.

Unfortunately can't indulge myself on that one. Gets you down though doesn't it, like you're struggling through a mud field or deep mist, can't get the head up to see where I'm going.

Such a beautiful day today too. tongue

I know what you mean. I am once again this morning struggling. And I am sooooo ill and mean...lol not like me at all. I wonder if that is due to the higher amounts of the prednisone I had to take (off of now) for the strep throat? Man I could chew someone's head off. Does prednisone make anyone else feel like that? I hope if that is it that its gone soon. I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings...lol

Lhowmet.... thanks for the post... yeah I think that describes it perfectly for me..lol Its getting a little better (not much yet) but I can tell it is easing off... hoping that tomorrow will be better than today has started off. I sure don't like feeling like this.

Hi Jessemc - Yes, sometimes I have night sweats, but thats menopause. I was tested by blood 2 months ago for TB, I'm "clean".

I've had several good days in a row (omg imagine that!), but that's because I had to go on prednisone for 5 days. For me, prednisone makes me feel "almost normal", but the long term effects keep me from taking it every day. still though, even with that, by 3:00, I'm washed up. Thank God I have bosses who are caring and understanding.
