Yes you guessed it, I've torn my supraspinatus tendon. I am in complete agony, can't move my shoulder at all, can't do my hair, get dressed, chop up the vegetables, hang out the washing...I'm a mess.
Saw my GP yesterday and she reckons I'll probably need surgery. I am like Not Again. I have had such a bad run lately. I spoke to the physio and he says encouraging things like its a really slow rehabilitation 18 months!!! I just can't believe it.
I fell over in the kitchen, slipped on a puddle in my slippers and must have thrown my arm out to balance myself. Then had a second injury when I lost my balance pushing open a window and jerked my shoulder suddenly forwards. Had a cortisone shot under ultrasound last Friday to help with the pain and they can't find the tendon. The shot has done nothing for the pain either.
I was having such a good year, typical isn't it?
Has anyone here ever torn a tendon, had surgery or not and recovered???
I'm told my next step is to get an MRI to find out what damage is done and whether my shoulder is repairable. Waiting to hear from my rheumy today to have her thoughts on the whole thing. I know she'll have her own surgeons she'll want me to use that know about RA.
I am so depressed...
