partial thyroidectomy

They will be removing my left side of the thyroid this Monday 12-9-13.  Just wanted to hear from anyone who has had this done with info on the pain, recovery, voice loss etc.  I know we all deal with pain different and I have been through a total hip replacement so I think (hope) I can deal with this.  Thanks for any help.

Sandy, I had a partial thyroidectomy about 6 years ago. The recovery was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. I was back to work full time in a couple of weeks and the pain was only an issue for the first few days, but had medication to see me through that. I was also concerned about voice loss but I guess my surgeon did well as I did not have that problem. Best of luck!
