Teeth cleaned yesterday - woke up both cheeks swollen and red - terrific headache.

Felt fine yesterday - went to get my 3 month cleaning at the periodontist office. Woke up with both cheeks bright red and swollen and a wicked headache. No fever. Called my rheumy and she said to call my primary. I have a scheduled apt with him tomorrow so debating whether to wait or not. Took my Humira on Monday and have been on 5 mg prednisone for awhile. I am so sick of all these weird things I get. Most times they go away and the doctors never really know what causes them. Just worried about infection. Mouth doesn't hurt. Anyone have a clue?

Sounds like you have an infection and will need an antibotic, try to get into your primary today as soon as possible...They possibly poked you when they cleaned your teeth and thus cause a infection, and you do need to get seen as soon as possible....

Don't wait get to er Now it is So Dangerous especially on the Methotrexate & Humira and be sure to tell them you are on these drugs
it definatly sounds like an infection from the cleaning could be from Anything
but I know a guy that ended up in a coma from dental work

I saw the nurse practioner yesterday - no fever, BP and heart rate fine, lungs clear. No sign of infection. Woke up this morning with worse swelling in my face. It's like my face is full of fluid under the skin??? I see my primary doctor today. This is so scary. I hate doctors - they never seem to figure out what causes these weird things I get. Hoping to get some answers today.
