Treatment of OA in knees & RA in hands-please read

Hey Gang,

As some of you know and some don't know, I have severe OA in both knees and dr has recommended replacements. We decided to wait and see if the Morphine Pump helped with my knee pain and I hate to say it, but all it has done is give me a clearer picture of how bad my knees are. I was hurting so bad in so many other places it was impossible to say what hurt the most.

Yesterday my dr told me of a new treatment and gave me a packet on it and he recommends that I try this. Looks like this has been in use since 1998/1999. This FDA approved.  The name of the company is BioniCare, please look them up on the net, you will be blown away by what this little machine can do. In some cases the use of this machine actually cause new cartilage to be produced in rabbits. I would wear 2 knee braces and have a belt on that holds the transmitter and pulses are sent to the knees only. Invasive and pain-free, I'm in. LOL. This was also used in patients w/RA in their hands and they got good results w/it.

I went to their website and read up on this gizzmo and I am calling them today and they will contact my ins comp and see if they will approve it. If I am approved then, a rep will meet me at my ortho's office. I am excited.

According to their website they are looking in to using this on hips. Anyway, I got so excited about this after reading my brochure and then going in to the website, I just had to share this with my extended family here. Love & Hugs, Susie

Susie, wow Thank you so very much for this info. This is definetly something I will be checking out..for the hands especially,have severe RA in them, and maybe the knees.

This actually sounds like a Tens unit made into the knee covering, I have used the small tens for post-op pain, but something like this certainly bears mentioning to my doc.

It is funny, I wrote in a post somewhere the other day,"Would'nt it be nice if we had something we could put on that would take away the pain well it looks like we just might have something there.

I WILL be taking this info with me on my next doc's visit. Thank you so much for sharing. If possible would you let us know what the Insurance Co. had to say about it?

Hi Flopsie,

I am meeting the rep from the company this Friday @9:30 at my ortho's office. At that time he will fit me and show me how it works I assume. I asked my ortho about the unit itself, it does look like a TEN, but he says it is not TENS, so we wait. I do know one thing different about this machine from a Tens, this one you turn it up till it tingles, then turn it back to where you do not feel it at all. Weird huh, oh well, I am game and I will give it a whirl. Love & Hugs, Susie

This is to anyone hope you can help me

I lost my job last Dec. as well as my Insurance. Is anyone having problems with Insurance Companys  not wanting to cover a person with RA.
