Hi Glea,
When you say you are “very foggy and forgetful” and you “keep confusing words …what is actually in my mind is not what comes out” this really rings bells with me. I was terribly badly affected by this type of thing when I first got Fibro but since I started medication and attempting to control pain through exercise my Brain Fog has improved quite a lot. I am on Lyrica 150mg at night and 2 Solpadol (made up of Paracetamol 500mg and Codeine Phosphate Hemihydrate 30mg) two pills at night and two in the morning then 2 Paracetamol (Tylenol in the US) twice during the day.
Pain with Fibro can strike anywhere you have nerves, muscles, tendons or ligaments. For me before my diagnosis and treatment Fibromyalgia meant exhaustion, sensitivity to sound, anxiety, weaknesses, and ‘pain all over’. Everyone experiences it differently. I had those symptoms a few months ago which I thought was RA and that my third biologic wasn’t working. It turned out it was Fibromyalgia. It is not unusual for RA patients to get Fibromyalgia.
It’s very upsetting to be told you have another life sentence on top of RA but my new diagnosis has turned out to be a good thing because I can now determine what is hurting me. To me RA pain means watch out and maybe sometimes stop what you are doing. Fibro pain is related to your central nervous system and does not indicate any harm to the painful area of your body. I can be less vigilant about Fibro pain and keep going as long as I don’t push it too hard, pace myself and rest properly. I don’t always manage this but I do my best. Good luck with it all. Neenaa
