EFFIE GOT HUMIRA SHOT!!!

Dear Friends,

I did it. I got the Humira shot today around 12:30 p.m.
It was easy.
Thank you all for everything. I do not think I could have done it without you.

I'm glad you wrote such a detailed description. The Enbrel info showed the same thing (woman can't move...suddenly picking up and play w/grandkids, etc.) My video didn't show a needle (I think that is another packet I have not recieved yet), but the info said the same thing about blood, pulling back the needle and having to throw out the needle and start all over again! I hope I don't have to do that either. My brother in law told me the other day it is so easy you really can NOT get the shot wrong....but still, I am scared. I am hoping to get my husband to go with me and learn to give it to me - just in case. He said he would when the time came.

I am SO proud of you and happy for you as well. That first step is always the hardest, right? Wishing you continued health!!!!

Is the locking in the knee just the arthritis or do you have something else going on there?

I will try to log on one last time before we leave for Yellowstone. We're suupposed to leave tomorrow but are way behind and we also have to wait for the fridge/freezer repair man!

i knew you could do it!!  piece of cake.  now lets put a lot of faith into it and think of all the good things it will improve! 

did the injection sting??  where was it given?? when they send you the humira do you have to mix it yourself??  the hunira people called me thursday morning...since i filled out the forms to recieve the drig at no cost.  we will see if i should go ahead with that or go to the remicade or back on enbrel.

i am so so very happy for you!! it makes me feel better today that you went for it!!!!!!!

Judy Hi,

I'am so glade to hear that you are feeling good.I have never had any problems what so ever with Humira.In favt Humira is what got me out of a wheel-chair.The only thing that would make me qeringe was the burning I got while giveing my self the shot.

I'am very glade that you finaly decided to take the plung and get the shot.So keep us up-dated on how you are doing.here is a big (((((((HUG))))))) for you.

keep on putting a lot of faith in your humira shots....they will work better that way!! i remember when i first started enbrel i would say a good wish prayer!! having faith in it will help it work even better...i truly believe that. i can't wait to start mine now!!!!! very proud of you!!

Judy congratulations we both took our shot about the same time. I did mine Tuesday. Your right it wasn't bad at all it stung just a little nothing compared to the pain you feel when flared. Let me know how the Humira works for you. I do seem to be feeling a little better already.

Great Judy, you WILL feel better every day!!!

Judy or anybody, where are you giving yourselves your shots? While I am getting in better and better shape,
I'm down to about 173 lbs, and at 6'2", that does not leave much room for fat. Last nite's shots hurt a bunch because I was going into muscle, so while I understand this is not problem for MTX or the Enbrel, it does hurt a bit more than into fat???

I gave mine in my stomach. Probably have more fat there than you. Just pinched up some lump of skin between my two fingers and went in at a 45* angle and gave it to myself fairly fast.

about the injections:
i'm quite on the skimpy side. i found greatest success when i injected into the "love handle" area and in the abdomen. basically those are the only soft areas i pretty much have. in the stomach though...it's best to do a 45 dgree angle. i found also my thigh injections hurt most.
also what worked is the fleshy part above the buttock.

A few years ago when I was walking my dog 3 miles a day, somedays both in the morning and night, I had the same problem with my diabetic injections. I mentioned it to the endocronologist and she suggested that going for the abdomen was the safest bet. Judy/Effie
