golitho,
A few years back, I was misdiagnosed with a torn rotator cuff by my family physician.
One day I woke up and my shoulder was sore, I thought I slept on it wrong, I went to work and by the end of the week, it hurt like heck and I could hardly move it. When my family doctor diagnosed me I was shocked since I had no trauma, no injury, I simply woke up one day and it was sore and I was pretty sure you don't just wake up with a rotator cuff injury.
When I went to physio, they told me straight up they didn't think I had a rotator cuff injury as they seen thousands and I didnt present as a rotator cuff, they thought I had frozen shoulder.
When I told my family physician what the physiotherapist said my doctor got really mad at me....yes at me, because my telling him what the physiotherapist said questioned his diagnosis.
I had already had years of burning swollen joints in both hands, both wrists and both feet and he could not find what was wrong with me, then I woke up and my shoulder hurt and he said it was a rotator cuff injury after looking at me for about 15 seconds and then raising my arm which took another 5 seconds.
The physiotherapist examined me for a full 20 mins, doing range of motion tests, strength tests and listened to me explain my shoulder was perfectly fine, then i just woke up one day and it was sore, I though maybe i slept on it wrong.
My shoulder became locked and in physio they had to day by day force it a little further, eventually after a few months I got my range of motion back, but the shoulder still hurt.
Then about six months later the same thing happened to the other shoulder.
