Ok got question about bad knee

sad  My left knee has been giving me alot of problems,well I got out in the yard today mowed the yard (PUSH MOWER)and pulled some weeds out of the flower beds.Now for my question my knee is swelling up and I can't put and presure on it and when I do try to walk on it it pops and hurtys like you would'nt belive.So what do you guys think?I can not see my Rhuemy because he uped and left and I see my pain doctor for the first time on sept14.So any one with some input would be great.

Mela, just a thought.....stand up, bend your knee back, grab your ankle and slowly draw your foot towards your butt. As you do rotate your foot so the arch of your foot lies flat against your "cheek". After that rotate your toes out the other way (your knee is still bent). This will stretch the ligaments on either side of your knee (medial and lateral collateral ligaments) Don't know if it will help but when my knee gets like that often it is because one or other of the ligaments has shifted slightly out of alignment. As I discovered talking to rhuemy a very common side effect to knees that have become swollen and then returned to normal. The ligament on either side of the knee stretch when the knee becomes inflammed and unless they are exercised very rarely actually return to normal. (hence the reason why reoccuring knee injuries happen)
Try it out. Can't hurt. If it doesn't, I'll give the tried and true method. Ice 20 min, heat 20 min alternate for first 2 hours and then apply ice for pain management and heat for relaxation for 48 hours after that.

I will give it a try like you said it sure want hurt.I forgot to say that when I got down on my knee's and when I tryed to get back up I could'nt luckley my next door naibore was out in his yard so I had to get him to help me up.Talk about being emmbearst( I know spelled wrong.

Any way I will be so glade when I get to see the new pain doctor,this pain is really geting to me.I would like to have just one day where I had know pain.It has been so long to where I have forgotten what it is like not to be in pain.

hey curley,
if the knee is very bothersome i would definitely if possible try to get an emergency visit to your PCP at least he would be able to prescribe some xrays and things for pain and swelling to make you comfortable until you see your regular docs. wrapping it mighthelp a bit to stabalize the ligaments and tendons. rest it too. how was it today??
