Low grade fever for over two weeks

Hi all,

I have had a low grade fever (38.3C or 101F) since the New Year. My GP thought it was the flu at first because of the very bad pain I experienced all over at the onset. I have also had pretty bad diarrhoea and have been feeling very unwell generally along with the fever. I have just had a chest x-ray along with blood, stool and urine tests. I’m awaiting the results. Have any of you experienced this kind of thing? My RA is not in a flare-up at the moment.

what drugs are you on ?
I got a Severe Reaction to Plaquenil years ago that started like that then it went Stupid Fever Went Thru the Roof I ended up in Hospital ICU
so check your medications maybe get a blood work up done
However in saying this I also get same symptoms when I get a RA Flare this is why I ignored it for a while .

Thanks for your response. I'm sorry you had to go through that experience. It must have frightening. I have experienced slight elevation of temperature when I was in a flare up but not as high as this and I'm not in a flare right now. How long did you have the low grade fever before it went really high?

I'm on Orencia (Abatacept) since last July. Before that I was on Ro-Actemra for 6 months but it was too hard on my liver. Before that I was on Enbrel for 3 months but it stopped working. For RA I am also on Methotrexate 7.5mg pw and Deltacortril 5mg pd. I am also on other meds for pain, inflammation, diabetes high blood pressure, fibro etc. I started Victoza injections daily for diabetes in mid Dec and my GP has asked me to stop for a week to rule it out. I'ts my second day without it but the temp is still the same.

When you say a 'blood work up' what do you suggest that they look for. Thanks Neenaa

The bloodwork needs to check how low your white blood cells are. If they fall too low you might have to be taken off your RA meds...Sure hope your doing better soon...keep us posted.
