New Norco laws I am falling through a crack any advice

I've used mail order pharmacies before and they are generally pretty fast. 10-12 days seems like a long time to me...Usually they have your next month's supply in time before you run out. Hopefully you've contacted them to get the real scoop. The new laws are very strict. Good luck!

While you are looking into this, try Aleve for inflammation ans see if your doc can up your prescribed dosage even if you don't take what's prescribed, you won't run out. Seems strange to me that the doc can't get you what you need. I have to sign a pain contract and submit to urine tests, and it really tics me off because I take one Percocet at night and I know of several rx pill addicts that seem to have no problem getting their "fix".

The problem is that my ins only pays for 21 days unless it is a mail order ( so 3x a day I get 63 tablets not 90) and the doctor says he cannot write a different date. It must be 30 days from last perscrition so the script I have in my hands is dated February 6th and I don't think a pharmacy will even risk filling a script that is dated that far in the future. I am just falling I between the crack in the law between my insurance of 21 days and the law says doctor has to write it every 30 days even though my insurance will not pay for 30days. And you can't just pay cash for the balance of 9 days. The pharmacy says once it's filled on the insurance at 21 days there is no balance. So I'm basically screwed for the next week. And I'm finding that although I'm not addicted to hydrocodone I'm feeling withdrawal symptoms. Some very unpleasant side effects besides everything hurts right now. I have been taking cayanne pepper for the inflammation and using plain old Tylenol ( way more than is recomended sadly) as a side note I started lyrica 2 days ago don't feel the difference yet. I'm hoping to just white knuckle it through until I can fill the script. I just think the law is wrong or should have some provisions in it for pain management . So even though the bottle says 63 tablets were dispensed on jan 6 ( not 90) the doctor says he can not write any other date besides feb 6. I don't want to argue because it seems the new law has everyone dr and pharmacies all on the defense. I'm not asking for anything more than to continue my regular schedule of norco. Why because a law changed the way medicine is practiced has to change. It's just wrong.

I have spoken up. To the doctor= talk to your insurance. To the insurance .. Use mail order where they swear they will mail a sch 2 drug ... Unlikely even doc and others told me it's illegal to mail sch 2 drug. If you don't use mail order sorry Charlie. You get 21 days. To the pharmacy can I pay for the balance . No. I have been going around and around with this since oct 6 2014. I break them in half do not take the 3 a day unless I can't deal with the pain. My little surplus is gone as of last Tuesday when I saw my doctor. I thought just letting him know again ( since oct I told him my insurance only pays for 21 days) if I can get a new script and this month is the first time I have run into this. Please don't assume that I just ran into this problem and went on line for advise from other patients , no I have been struggling with this since the new law took effect. Under the old law I was fine with a script written at 3x day 30 days 3 refills that actually worked perfect. Never ran out always had left overs . But as with RA and rain and cold damp weather it seems you do need the 3 x a day almost consistently. It is not bad management on my part. I just didn't feel like writing a novel I just wanted to know more about the law and if anyone else has had the same problem

Ask Dr. for 4 Norco per day. Then if insurance pays for 30 you should be set.

Lyrica not doing anything. Pain 50x worse than 7 days ago. I feel like hot screw drivers are being james into my knee and hips. And walking on hot coals while standing in a blast furnace and fire ants are picking their way through my feet making their way up my calves. My back ( 3 compression fractures ) feels like a mill stone around my neck and some devil has his fist jammed into my thoracic area. Just kill me already. I read on line that RA/FM/ OA etc pain can feel like or worse than labor after 4 kids I can say at least labor gives you these tiny precious moments were your body is not in pain even if it only 20 seconds it is 20 seconds you are NOT praying for death. The tarsal tunnel syndrome my doc says I have also is killing me I worked my 40 hours last week w/o any pain meds I haven't done this in over 5 years I have been in bed since I came home from Work. I don't think it is fair to just say oops sorry buddy to someone who has never abused drugs or anything in the past and say wow never herd of insurance doing that ... Sucks to be you. Meanwhile I am in my bed thinking what if a beer and Benadryl will at least make me stop weeping. I don't even drink but you start thinking crazy when your in do much pain I could stand in front of a train. ( BUT I WONT! Not because of self preservation, I world never do that to my co worker brothers and sisters, to them it would be senseless and stupid , they'd be spot on ) i just wish there would or could be more seriousness about this people are suffering and it isn't fair. Can't the government or what ever three letter agency stay out of my health care for one bleak moment I saw a light at the end of the tunnel in early 14 but by the fall I said nope it's just a fright headed my way. The light at end of the tunnel is a freight train. Story of my life. I give up.

Methotrexate made so sick after a while.
Prednisone made me jump to 150 lbs then with methotrexate I could not eat no dropped to 110. Then tried avara which made me sick also rapid digestion and I mean rapid. I take remicade infusions , prednisone , meloxicam , Zoloft and Wellbutrin ( supposed to make me not want to smoke ) that's is not working either. And I still hurt everywhere all the time unless I have the hydrocodne I'm just as good as dead.
And really as a side note I am too chicken to take anything the doctor hasn't said is ok ( like beer with Benadryl ) and don't see how smoking weed or stuff like that has any help in chronic pain sufferers. But if pot is legal for " medical " uses? Why is the FDA all up in real doctors business not the pot docs out there. Go bother the real problem people and leave us alone.

Ask your pain doctor that you want to change pharmacies....don't do CVS or Walgreens...Walgreens is worse...
My bad experience with CVS is that they gave out expired medications and got into trouble for it....while some meds might be okay still expired others are not and in 2006 I was very sick with strep and got antibotics from cvs and I feel they gave me expired meds which did me harm and I'll never ever fill with them because of this....
I'm very sorry your going through this but not all pharmacies are like this, ask your doctor to try another pharmacy even if you have to drive out of they way as its your health that needs this medication...

Hi Pain $herlock, have you ever thought of not using your insurance to pay for the Norco's and just pay cash? They're not that expensive and then you could get all 90. I too take them but have no insurance so just pay cash. I've had to go without and I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Best of luck.

My sympathies and prayers for your loss...try increasing your fluids for the nose bleed, orange juice or water might help...make sure to journel this experience and take it in with you to your doctors appointment and make sure your doctor knows about your reaction to the Lyrica..
