Any one taking mobic

HHhhhmmmm I was on MOBIC for a while, but it really didn't do anything for me... it didn't make me sleepy or even dullen the pain for that matter... sorry I am of no help to you, let me look some stuff up and I'll get back with you on the side effects... What dose are you on? - Duck

Patty - this is what I found please take note of the bold area:

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Mobic and seek medical treatment or contact your doctor immediately:

·

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);

·

rash;

·

swelling or rapid weight gain (fluid retention);

·

black, bloody or tarry stools;

·

blood in your vomit;

·

nausea, fatigue or weakness, excessive itching, flu-like symptoms, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or

·

abdominal pain or tenderness.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Mobic and talk to your doctor if you experience:

·

dizziness or headache;

·

flatulence, diarrhea, or constipation; or

·

nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, heartburn, or indigestion. Hope this helps you out... please call your doctor to be sure.. and keep us posted on what happens - Duck

Hey Flopsie, you have me confused w/someone else, I have never been on Mobic.

Patty, speak to your doctor about what's going on. When I was on deltasone (steroid) I reacted the same way....so out of it I felt like I was in a glass box filled with fog  unable to control my own actions.  It was very scary. Luckily (?) for me, the steroid did diddly squat for the pain so I got off them and never looked back after 2 weeks of someone (supposedly me, but I don't know that woman) tearing my marriage apart every time I (I mean SHE) opened her mouth. 

There could be other factors, or it could be your body adjusting to the med...but I say, call the doc to see what he says AND trust your own instinct about it....your health and well being is the main focus and you above everyone else knows how you are feeling.

What did he say about the side effects you've been experiencing?

The scaly patches that you are describing sounds like Psoriasis.. Psoriatic Arthritis does not show up in bloodwork. That's actually how they diagnose it, if you turn up negative in your bloodwork, but have all the symptoms, then they rule it psoriatic arthritis. PA affects your fingers/wrists/toes/ankles mainly as well as the spine. I have it in my toes/feet/ankles/knees/right pointer finger/left wrist and spine right now. I have had this since October 2003, but was not diagnosed until March 2005. I have been Enbrel ever since, and I have a lot better range of movement/motion now that I am on Enbrel. I have been on Mobic/Feldene/Voltaren/Naproxen... you name it and none of it helped until the Enbrel. The next time you see your rheumy, let him/her know that you have psoriasis, they may diagnose you with PA. Let us know how you are doing, my best to you on finding your answers.... - Duck

Patty, far as I know the answer is "yes" - you can have psorisis w/o arthritis but later develop the arthritis. They are both autoimmune diseases and one can bring on the other I believe.

X-rays can show any degeneration from arthritis.  I was told that psoriatic arthritis degenerated differently than RA and that can be seen in an x-ray as well.

You really need to see someone familiar in treating arthritis....

Patty, just read all these posts. Still getting caught up. I put myself back on Mobic last night and almost fell asleep early. It did have the same effect on me. I've always taken it at night. It really helps my pain level. I did have minor leg swelling which did not alarm rheumy. It was slight, nevertheless, he tried me on something else, which has not worked as well. He said if I went back on Mobic and had the swelling again, we'd try a mild diruetic. Mobic works GREAT for me and I'm grateful for it. But I will be closely monitoring any swelling. Boo
