Hello. I have a diagnosis of seronegative negative rheumatoid arthritis. I have a raised CRP and a very very angry PSOAS.

My rheumatologist does not agree that I have arthritis, she thinks fibromyalgia. My family doc who says it arthritis doesn't agree with her. I'm some where in the middle of them ;)

Does anyone have any experience with the PSOAS muscles being angry due to their RA?

If your xrays shows deterioration in your joints then it is RA.

Fibromyalgia doesn't cause any detectable blood work or inflammation. With fibromyalgia you hurt in all four quadrants of your body for no apparent reason.

I'm considered sero-negative because my RA factor is 14. I have positive xrays though.

Can RA cause inflammation in the PSOAS?

I looked up it just then. I see that it's a muscle in the hip girdle area. If it's inflamed I don't think RA affects muscles. It can affect tendon connections though.

Fibromyalgia can cause it to hurt, but can't cause inflammation.

I wonder if I should ask for an xray of my hip. It hasn't been imaged at all.
