Sed rate even higher

I started back on plaquenil 5 months ago and my sed rate is even higher now! I am still tired although the pain is better. Fatigue is horrible.

So, do you think this means I might not be in remission yet? I'm worried they will want to give me stronger meds. I work in health care and don't want my immune system lowered. My joint pain is pretty good.

What was your sedrate number? I have been on biologic and low dose of prednisone for many years and I work with kids. I take extra precautions but hardly ever sick. I hope it doesn't go higher and cause you issues with pain and damage, but it sounds like you may not be in remission.

Beth, my sed rate went from 31 to 37. Not horrible but I was expecting it to go down into the 20's at least....
Yea, I don't think I am in remission either. I am tired and achy.


I will also be moving and will have to switch rheumies again. It will be ok b/c there are some good ones within easy driving distance.

I know the thought of adding another med sucks, but you might consider methotrexate. Or a low dose of prednisone. I started taking one Aleve in the morning and it really helps the inflammation. Good luck Jeanne! What part of the world are you relocating?

Beth, thanks for your reply. I'll be moving from north Florida to coastal, south Georgia. Will be near the ocean again! Yipee!!!

We'll see what my Dr. wants to do. I'll go to a Mayo Dr. when I move back to Georgia as it's close by. I guess I'll have to wait and see if he recommends Methotrexate. From what I read, a sed rate of 37 isn't that high for someone my age. I recently read the upper normal for women over 50 is 30.... so, with that in mind, I should be ok. I have some fibromyalgia and started taking something to help me sleep, so that is helping a lot. I also started taking vitamins and supplements, which are helping me to feel better like fish oil, and alpha lipoic acid. I feel less tired now.

Gotta pack some this weekend. Uh!

Guess I just need to tell someone of my success--my sed rate was creeping higher and at highest middle of June at 67. I was so miserable and pain all over. Started doing research with the question of how I could decrease the inflammation. My rheumatologist was not on board with my plan but we really have agreed on very little. For 5 weeks I went cold turkey on dairy, gluten and cut way back on sugar; using some supplements. I started improving by leaps and my last sed rate was 25. Also, NO prepared food. Feeling much better and have found a new MD who is supportive. It is hard but being sick is harder. Sjogrens with peripheral neuropathy.

Wow Barbara! I am so impressed your tenacity and ability to stick to such a good diet. I bet you could slowly add back in some and see what is the culprit, or you may be able to stick to it for the long haul. I have a friend who had similar results from cutting just the dairy. I am trying to reduce my sugar intake. A lot of new research about how bad it is for belly fat. Have always exercised a lot and not had to worry about eating sugar in moderation. Avoided fat and all was good. Then I went through menopause....nother story now.
