Yes, I have had similar results as well. It is easy to think that a medication is not working well because we are in so much pain, so we are taken off of it and suddenly things become much much worse.
It is why I am patient with my Doctor and with medications, I know she is doing her best to try to help me and some of the meds can take months to reach their full potential for effectiveness. We have to give it time.
I am taking Methotrexate and Avara right now and my numbers have been getting better steadily. You can take MTX as an injection you know? I have been taking it this way for years because of my stomach problems. Otherwise, I would not be able to take it.
If NSAID's are no longer helping your mom have you asked about pain meds for her? She may need to go to a pain management clinic but it is well worth it versus being in pain all the time. There is a forum here dedicated to it that has been very helpful.
I hope that things get better and that your mother finds some relief.
Take care, -Don
