Hi all, been a while since I've stopped by and I was thinking as much today when I was at my Rheumy appt and she mentioned getting my flu and pneumonia shots this fall. smile

At any rate, she wants to put me on Retuxin now after being on MTX and Actemra and seeing some decent results but nothing really to write home about.

So, I thought I would ask if anyone here is on it, how long and what kind of side effects, effectiveness etc?

I hope you all have had a decent summer and maybe some relief as well with the better weather it brings.

Wow nobody has taken Retuxin, not very confidence inspiring and I have been having a bunch of second thoughts on it anyway because it is so long acting with immune suppression.

I think I am going to tell her no. It just doesn't feel right to me.

Hi Don,
Let us know what you decide. I see a change of meds in !y future, but I can't pull the trigger either. Nothing inspires me to make the switch.

Hi Don I am new to this forum. I just want to tell you to listen to your gut! I wish I did. I had 3 infusions of Rituxan in 2011. It did not work for my RA. But come to find out it completely wiped out my B cells. I kept having hospitalizations of upper respiratory infections that the drs could not get under control along with asthma complications. After several different hospitalizations ,my pulmonary dr wanted me to go to National Jewish Hospital to have a very thorough work up. Come to find out I had no B cells. This was 4 years later. And the drs asked me if I had Rituxan infusions as one of my treatments. Long story short I now have to receive IVIG infusions to replace my Igg levels to not get infections. This new treatment has worked for my upper respiratory infections but I still continue to have other infections monthly. So if you do decide to get the Rituxan infusion definitely ask your dr to check your igg levels prior , during and after your treatments. If I can help at least one person with my unfortunate experience it will make me feel better. Best of luck to you in your journey with R A.
