Need help for my mon (please) - Venezuela

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are doing great. I'm Jesús Morales, I'm 27 years old and I'm from Venezuela. I'm writing this post for two reasons.

The first one: my mother suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. She's 56 years old and she was diagnosed with this disease about 8 years ago. As soon as she was diagnosed with this disease, she started receiving monthly the medicines (Enbrel - Etanercept) she needed from the goverment (when the medicines are very expensive, there are agreements that stablish that the goverment must subsidize these medical treatments and you obtain it by no cost). In the present time, it is getting really hard to obtain these medical treatments in Venezuela. In fact, she has not received the medicines for 5 months and we cannot pay for it by buying it at Colombia (the nearest country to Venezuela) or anyway because it's really really expensive. By now, I'm living in Santiago, Chile. I had to move because of all the situation in my country.

The second reason, and the most important i think: I'd like to know if there are organizations that can help me to get this medical treatment (or some equivalent) by donating it for my mom. It's really breaking my heart this situation in my country, but for now there is nothing we can do to change it, and is getting harder and harder every day.

I would really aprecciate it and I'd be very greatful if someone could help me and could help my mom. She's everything to me and I don't want to see her suffering again.

I am in Australia so unfortunately do not know of agencies in your country But I do know of an organisation called Médecins Sans Frontières, also known in English as Doctors Without Borders,

now they may not directly be able to assist but I am sure they would know who you could contact
I have great sympathy for you as it is hard to see someone you love in pain and unable to help them your mother is fortunate to have you in her life

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry your mother is having to suffer due to the circumstances in your country. So unfair!
Have you thought about contacting the makers of Enbril directly and asking about assistance programs? I am also On Enbril and can give you the top free number.
If you open up your email in the "profile" section, others on the forum can share information with you directly through email.

I checked the Doctors Without Borders and Red Cross websites but there are no programs in Venezuela. Is it possible for your mother to leave and go to another country?

Jesus, it looks like Doctors Without Borders is active in Colombia: www.doctorswithoutborders.org/country-region/colombia.

I don't know more than what the website says. If she cannot get her medication or medical help in Venezuela, then maybe if she goes to another country she can find it there, but I really don't know.

Maybe you should return home and help her go to a better place. Google here is limited for mostly US sites, so I cannot find anymore resources for you.

Don't worry about any mistakes. You are doing a great job in your posts and your mom must be so proud to have such a caring and sweet son. I hope the information Laney gave you will help you get your mom her medication somehow. Please do keep us posted!
