Newbie, did my UTI cause a flare up?

Used Citricidal (grapefruit seed extract) drops in water to successfully clear my urinary tract infection for a week. Stopped citricidal but then had v painful flare up in left knee so I can now only shuffle after having to test left leg can bear my body weight. Could the uti infection have caused the flare up? Any ideas? Thank you 😁

Maybe I should continue with the citricidal as I did read a report that it can help. Also starting to cut out bread and potatoes, deadly nightshade, gluten. Am vegetarian.

Hi & welcome to Healing Well. Are you on any medications to treat your RA? Just a guess, the UTI & flare are probably a coincidence. If you feel there is a connection, perhaps keep a log to see if there is a pattern. Good to read you knocked out the UTI.

No medications yet. Its early days. I did read that infections can trigger arthritis flares so wondered if anyone else can make the correlation in their experience...

Hi sometimes it is a bit like what came first the chicken or the egg as Flares & infections seem to go hand in hand.
it is a good idea to keep a log book eg date of first symptom for both infection & flare also any other things you may think are relevant what you ate stress ect
Be vary careful not to cut out too many foods as being vegetarian you can become vitamin deficient easily I was veg for a number of years but could not get the balance right and was getting infections and anemia so gradually reintroduced more food groups.
