Enbrel not working anymore?

Hi all,

I have RA and have been taking methotrexate and enbrel for several years now.  While the enbrel never really lasted throughout the week, it used to go at least 4-5 days before it wore off.  NOw, it seems like it only lasts 1-2 days before I start feeling like I've been hit by a truck.  I've read somewhere that enbrel (or any of the biologics for that matter) can stop working effectively after a certain period of time.  Has this happened to anyone?  Fortunately, I have lots of other choices these days (with all of the new drugs out there), but I would prefer not to switch unless I have no choice.

This is my second time on Enbrel, last time was in 08.  I have to say it does not work as well this time around. It seems to have more side effects and it does not last as long as it should. I take it along with the MTX, like last time, however lately I've been  increasing my dose of Omega's quite a bit from 3 capsules to 5 five capsules and I find as long as I take those, I don't have much joint pain.  But you are right, there are so many knew ones to try! Are you using the auto-injector? I am currently and back in 08 I had to switch from the auto-injectors to the syringes twice weekly in an effort to get my dosage to last a bit longer. I'm trying to avoid this because I hate needles so much.

I took Remicade for 2.5 years when it stopped working. Switched to a different biologic but ended up having a rather severe reaction. That caused me to be off all biologics for 1.5 years. Started Simponi and have been taking it for 3 years now with good results.

I am on my second time with Enbrel and it is not working like last time. Last time I was a new person lost 30 pounds felt great but the weight loss was really fast so we stopped it which I regret now. Second time around I have gained 15 pounds and feel no better today me to try the next biologic
