I recently had some severe arm and hand pain. I went to my Dr who did some blood tests. My rheumatoid factor result was 426. My CCP result was 1504! Yes, that was 1504. I have my first rheumatologist appt in a few days. I have been scouring the web for info on what these high test results could mean for an RA diagnosis. Not much out there. I am concerned. It has taken awhile for me to get an appt. Most rheumatologists are filled up. Since my tests I have gotten bumps on my hands near some joints and pain has also moved to my knees. Anyone out there with good advice on questions I should ask the Dr when I go to my appt? Anyone have any idea what these test results could mean for disease progression?

Hi Brandysmom, glad to see you will have your first appt with a rheumatologist in a few days.

It's best to write down when your symptoms began along with any changes.

Write down any medication you take.

More than likely the dr will order more extensive lab work than what your gp ordered, so don't be surprised, this is normal.

Thank you for your reply. I have been trying to keep track of symptoms etc. I did wonder if they would do more tests too. TY for that info.

Had my first appt. Definitely RA. Dr put me on Methotrexate and some methylprednisolone. Also gave me Folic acid to help lessen reaction to trexate? Got a shot of steroids before i left the office so my inflammation is down quite a bit in my hands today. That will make cooking Thanksgiving dinner easier today!!
