I'm really not looking forward to this but I guess it needs to be done to road map my foot. Lets wire me up and send electricity thru my body!!! eyes  I was wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of getting one. confused It's amazing how insurance companies dictate what a doctor can do. I have to have a CT scan, MRI, x rays and now this "fun" little diagnostic test. Fill me in if you have  had one, thanks

I have had five different EMGs and NVC [nerve conduction] studies. I find them only somewhat uncomfortable. That said, my neurologist has had patients demand the test be halted with the stimolation of the first nerve. I believe it has to do with a person's tolerance of pain. I have a high pain threshold. I will say on two occasions a deeper nerve conduction test left my leg muscle sore the next day. The feeling was similar to having overworked as in too much exercise or activity.

I've had an EMG; never had a NCS, though. The EMG, honestly, made me feel a bit like a cat in a skinner box. It was uncomfortable, perhaps a tad painful, but not that bad overall. Deep down, I really just felt like a cat in a skinner box--meow. Hated the test, but once it was done, it was done. Not a huge deal.

i had both in my legs and arms wrists. the emg wasnt that bad but the nc studies i couldnt take and had to stop the test early on. it didnt matter b.c the neurologist found out that i hadd carpul tunnel in both wrists anyways and wasnt sure about the legs by thinks the L5-SI nerves are shot there, it was jsut too painful for me to go on with . the elcetrical stim i could handle if they were quick about it but the needles i cant take

thanks for your replys...I am making my appointment for next week. It's kind of funny because I don't think I need it. I CAN SEE THE BAND OF NERVES!! :-)   Yes...it's visable, sometimes when it flares up I can actually see when they flare out....kind of cool in a sick way. devil   once again, thank you! wishing all of you good days
