Finally started Humira today

Hi all -- I'm sorry I've been away so long, but to be honest, I have been in a bad way since my reaction and no meds. After waiting 2 months for the adjunct pharmacy to my insurance to pull their proverbial heads out of their *** (you know what I'm talking about), they finally got everything settled last week. I wish they would understand the unnecessary suffering they put people through by constantly making a mess of things.

So, I took my injection at my doctor's office this morning - they wanted to make sure I did not have a reaction. I'm doing the pre-filled syringe rather than the ejecter pen thingy. So far so good. I'm tired (which I always get after taking the biologic), but ok. I'm not a fan of taking this stuff in the morning precisely because I get more tired, but at least I finally got to take it!

My rheumy and I talked about how effective the Humira may or may not be and he asked that I give it a good month before deciding whether to up the frequency of the Humira (from every 2 weeks to once a week), adding more MTX or calling it day. I have to hope this is going to work.

Strange thing I noticed, since I theoretically have been without medicine (other than MTX) since October. I knew the Remicade worked really well for me. In the past month or so, I didn't realize just how much though. I have been in so much pain with so little relief - I truly had forgotten just how bad my RA & AS really is. I'm hoping the Humira helps me forget! Keep your fingers crossed for me...

Thanks for the finger crossing! I really wish I would've woken up this morning "all better." Dumb, eh? LOL

At least I didn't have any type of reaction...that's a good start. I just hope I don't have to wait a month to start feeling relief. Ah the joys of it all.

I thought it might be too soon.. but was so hoping for you!

I'm doing ok.. getting over the flu/pneumonia/bronchitis.. but definitely feeling better.. not coughing up lung cookies (sorry that was gross) anymore.. so that's a plus! Had to skip my Enbrel while I was sick, so went without for 2 weeks and was already in a flare.. so you can imagine being sick on top of a flare.. with no meds.. not a happy camper.. but I took my Enbrel today.. and will again in a couple days to get back on schedule so we'll see how I do.. am hoping for the best! Thanks for asking! :) :)
