bone on bone knee pain

My knees are bone on bone. The pain changes periodically. The newest problem is when I sit too long or at night wake up to go to the bathroom, I can't put weight on the knee due to severe pain. I am having replacement surgery in a month. Does anyone have any suggestions to help with this pain. (Pain pills don't help!)

I'm New to this room or message site.

   I have living with chronic pain for many yrs now, I have had three back fusions along with Neuropathy.

  I have been have real bad let knee for a yr now and they just did an x ray and told me that I had some arthritis but what my left knee? what about all the tears and all the severe pain I have lived with non stop?  I was so so discouraged with the news. Now I'm thinking after I was told that Neuropathy that does not include the knee.  the nerve roots start in the back and waist down.. the knees are waist down. Now do not tell me its not part of the Neuropathy!

  I'm upset with the medical field and how things are working for me.

 Any suggests?

I totally understand. When I see a new doctor I tell him I want a bone replacement from the neck down. I have a new hip, some movements cause slight discomfort, I need both knees, have had a spinal fusion still can't walk or stand for long with spinal problems.

     The pain from your waist I think you said sounds, like sciatica. Have you tried cortisone shots? They work for me in some areas. I also have a bad thumb joint and shoulder joint.

     I really get frustrated with TV commercials that say just take this (tylenol etc.) and your arthritis will be fine. Yeah right!

     Sometimes you maybe need a new doctor. Good luck!
