Hi - I'm new to the RA forum. I've had joint pain problems on and off for years - mainly hands, wrists, elbows & occasionally knees; both sides but not really swollen just aching and tender if pressed. But........ I have also had sacroiliac trouble over the years as well. I've put all this down to playing sports for many years and general wear and tear.
Because of Crohn's I am not allowed now to take Ibuprofen (NSAID) and therefore haven't been able to get on top of the pain/inflammation in the same way so I checked with my gastro consultant what I could take - he has now put me on Celebrex (Cox-2) and says it looks likely I have RA but doing tests to find out. A recent CT scan showed mild bilateral sacroliitis. My Crohn's is mild and previous joint problems haven't been linked to bowel problems.
From what I've read about RA it doesn't seem to include the sacroiliac problems - these are seems mentioned more for AS but the symptoms for AS don't fit either. Can I have 2 conditions or is that being greedy? Anyone have the horrible aching pains and stiffness without the fever, redness and swelling?
Thanks for reading this and I'd appreciate any insight you can give me.
