OK... I had my first injection today. I was a little bit scared but it really wasn't that bad - I did it by myself!!!! with help of the doctor's assstant of course :)

I feel a little bit tired now - it is the evening, the injecion was at the morning and all day I was a little bit of the schedule. I hope tomorrow will be OK. Is it normal to feel tired after the injection?  will it be like that every time?

It probably just took a lot out of you because it was a stressful beginning. I think I remember laying down and pampering myself a bit after the first 2 shots but I don't really remember having any side effects.

I was tired after my first injection too. After that, i am no longer tired after the injections

Thanks! I ma doing OK today, just hoping to get rid of the Prednisone soon and hopefully Plaquenil. I don't know how they will know that Humira works as I am still on Prednisone and my next appointment is next month? Will it show in my blood test ? Or they will take me off the Prednisone (as my doctor said this is our goal) and then will see how I am doing?...
I would love to cut on the Plaquenil too, but it is still not clear to me if I should or not as the doctor's assistant told me that they can take me off this medicine in future if I would like to... hmm I would like to... but what is the best for me??

Hi BStrong,

Humira was successful in getting me off the pred but it was a slow taper off - 6 months. For me, each time I dropped the pred down it was a wait and see how I felt and that was my indication that it was working. Ive been on it a year next month and have been off the pred since early April (after 7 long years) and I have much less pain.

I hope the Humira does its magic for you.

Thanks SydneyJo! Good for you! Nice to hear that there is something out there what really helps, I had my moments when I thought... will anything finally start to work?? is there anything what help me with pain?? It is funny like at the beggining I didn't want to take any pills, then was scared of the side effects and then I was just praying that something will just start working! and I don't care how many pills I'm taking a day right now and try to not think how they will affect my health - as long as it helps...

I took my first Humira injection yesterday morning. Everything I'm reading says it can take up to 3-4 months to really work. So is it my imagination that this morning I didn't have to sit down and rest every 10 minutes while getting ready for work? Maybe I just WANT to feel better so badly that I'm psyching myself out. Regardless, I live in CO and today is cold and rainy which is a horrendous combination for my RA. But I feel pretty darned good. I am taking this with Methotrexate. I had horrible reactions for the first month or so on the Methotrexate, but only a little tiredness yesterday after the Humira. I have hope for the first time in a long time.

I think sometimes if you get the right combo- BAM! I went from being an absolute invalid to self sufficient over night when my doctor upped my prednisone to 40 mgs. a day. I mean for almost 3 months I could do NOTHING for myself and was in such pain I wanted to die. When I woke up that next morning- it was just totally different. I didn't have that excruiating pain- I stood up and walked on my own! I was in total disbelief. I kept waiting for it to all come rushing back- but it never did. Of course it was a long slow taper off that prednisone and of course I'm not totally pain free like I was at that dose but I'm still 110% better than an invalid.

Hi glong! Woow it is nice to hear you feel good after first injection!!! Everybody is different so who knows maybe for you it started that fast :) good for you!!! Do you take any oher meds? or just Humira and Methotrexate? I am after my 3rd injection still on the Prenisone. I feel tired same day after the injection too, have little headache for day or two and then overall is OK.
