RA cause Crohn's flare?

Hi everyone- I have been on here off and on, mostly on the crohns forum, because that was the primary symptom.

Long story-- 2 GI's later, 11 days in 3 different hospitals,-- I am finally getting Crohns under control (I think). The GI thinks the RA is actually causing the crohns to flare.. The Rhuemie will not hear of it... (not my disease)--

So- tomorrow- I am asking my GI to recommend a rhuemie at his University setting--

But has anyone else had their RA cause their crohns to flare?

Now that the crohns is more "under control" the RA seems to be flaring.. but no swelling---

I am talking Remicade for the Crohns, ONLY if the GI writes a script for it tomorrow... as per my current rhuemie.

Frustration--- I know you all know it...

Well, I don't know if my CD causes the RA to flare or vice versa, but I have noticed that *usually* when one is quiet, the other is active. If your CD is calming down, then maybe the RA is rearing it's ugly head. I'm really sorry. I hate that feeling of "if it's not one thing, it's another". I took Remicade for the CD and it kept the arthritis in check too. Best 6 years ever.

The thing is since it's all auto-immune related it all falls into the same bag. That's why I think your rhuemy is ridiculous to shut it down just like that. Sounds like you definitely need a new one - one who understands that these illnesses are all intertwined. I'm sorry you're going through all of this. But maybe if you can get on the remicade you will kill two birds with one stone. Fingers crossed. Good thing is you're fighting for yourself and at least your GI is on your side! Hang in there!!!

Hi Kim

I find that they will play up individually and then when flaring they hit me  both together.

I agree with Steff - it may be time for a new Rheumy.
