Don't ya just hate it when a Doctor tells you that "you need to be more
active",,,..and your doing your best....
What's a doctor said that makes you wanna say "I just hate that"...

Oh dear!!! Yes, that would be frustrating with RA! There are days when most of feel as if we are just treading water to get by!  I have not been told that, but the opposite! I have told my rheumy on more than one occasion that I miss going to the gym like I did when I was on the Plaquenil cocktail, and he always tells me that just isn't an option blah blah!! I get frustrated because he won't seem to get me on anything that will allow for that to be an option again! Yes, there are times I would love to speak my mind:)

Oh Good One i'll bet a Lot of people agree with you here

i had a physio ask "is there any reason why i don't walk around the block" shocked

um well - most days i use wheel chair and on Good days i use a cane but manage to get 30-50 feet before i stop

then he asked is it pain or Breathlessness that stops me! 

um well - Both - and of course the pavement hitting me in the face as i fall slows me just a wee bit 

they really have No idea do they  smhair

I would really like to be more active. It is really hard, though, when moving hurts. It's also hard when you are exhausted by just going to the grocery store. I can actually feel my muscle tone getting worse because of inactivity.

I bought some tapes and books about Yoga, and swore I would start...that was at Christmas time, and I'm still not doing it.

"Okay, how do I do that?"
Eat less.
I do.
Exercise more.
I'm tired by the end of the day.
Then exercise in the morning.
I'm too stiff in the morning.
Then exercise middle of the day.
That's when I need to rest to finish the day.
(Groan)

What I hate the most said is "If you don't move it you'll loose it".

When I was battling stubborn prednisone weight I was only eating 1200 calories a day and complained to the RD he said- so eat 1000 calories! I felt like backhanding him! First of all 1200 is difficult- 3 small squares is all you can eat and 2nd HE'S A DOCTOR! Don't they say it's dangerous to eat any less than 1000? He also told me to eat smaller salads! I don't put anything fattening in them! ARRRGGGGHHHH

My father used to tell me that a pig could starve to death in a turnip patch.
I'd starve to death on salads!

My portions are very small already. I do have a weakness for sweets though. I try to limit those to once a week.

This is may be a silly, "don't you hate it". My son and daughter in law bought me a lovely necklace for mother's day. It has some small diamonds on it and says "LOVE". I really love it! I tried to wear it one day, and spent 45 minutes trying to fasten the clasp.

It was so small I could barely grasp it with my big swollen fingers. The chain is tiny and the clasp is even smaller. I finally gave up in frustration. cry

Do any of you have problems like this? I remember when I started on Enbrel. It came in a stupid put-together pack that seemed designed to make it hard for those with arthritis. Then, they started the ready to inject ones.

Just venting... rolleyes

Buy one of those magnetic clasp and attach it to the necklace. It should help.

Thanks, Joy! Where can I buy those magnetic clasp attachments? I have more than one necklace that I can't wear anymore because I just can't fasten them.

I've seen them at Dollar General, Walgreens, and Walmart. Just look for those "As seen on TV" sections.

Hi All, I'm jumping in late but I hated it when my rheumy replied to my request for help to work a full day that she would write me a cert to say I could only work half days!!!

It wasn't quite the response I was after.

I also remember a physio telling me to take smaller steps when I was complaining at how bad my knees were. So thats the answer, we just have to take small steps everywhere!

Makes me laugh now but its so demoralising at the time. They treat us as if we are idiots.

I use my children to do up necklaces don't know how I'll cope when they all leave home. They're very handy for picking up stuff from the floor or cleaning out the bottom of the fridge! All jobs I love of course.
