Well, I took my MTX Friday and then picked up a voice mail from this past Wednesday telling me to top the MTX because of elevated liver enzymes.  I wonder how long it will take for my enzymes ot go back to normal.  What do you think the rheumy will suggest now?  Is injectible MTX easier on the liver? I'm getting worried about what I can take to get rid of this pain and swelling.  Thanks! V

Plaquenil helped a lot, but after six months I ended up w/sore red bumps on my tongue and had to stop the Plaquenil immediately. Sigh.

My enzymes were slightly elevated for a few months and then went back to normal. Try not to stress out too much about it I was really freaking out over it myself.

Did he say how high they were? Mine were like 20 above the normal level both ALT and AST.

Awe Vannie, I know how much you were hoping that this would help...
Sure wish I knew what else you could try, only other thing is pred...
Sure hope your feeling better soon, maybe ask about doing the injectible of MTX, my doc is going to start me on
the injectible here soon, as he totally wants to keep the reactions down, I'm thinking of doing arm injections...

Saw rheumy yesterday and found out only one liver enzyme went up, and it was only in the 80's so I am to stop MTX for one more week and then start again at three pills instead of five pills. I am happy about this, becuase the MTX was really starting to help me. Also got a handicapped placard, and I am glad now that I did. I used it already. My ankles were sore and stiff after all the walking between offices yesterday, and driving an hour each way to see the doc. Thank you to all you have been helping me thru this mini "crisis".

Hi, Chartreux!

I was just thinking of you, too, so I thought I'd check the board. I am doing well. I took my MTX Friday and I was pretty tired yesterday and some today, but I should be fine tomorrow. We had tstorms move overnight. I woke up at 1:30 this morning with a very sore right wrist. Funny how our joints can predict a weather change! How are you doing?

Hi, Weary...I had one liver enzyme that was 80. I'm pretty sure that high normal is 40.
