They gave me the MRI disc after my MRI last week. The doctor hasn't read the report yet so I have no idea what it means. I am driving myself crazy looking at it like I could figure something out.

I've already been dx'd (positive anti-ccp) but thisMRI is looking for "early RA indications? " so she knows when to start methotrexate. She doesn't want to start too early. ??? of course I don't want to have to take it, but my mother has RA and is completely disabled.


anyone here know anything about reading an MRI for RA?

I can't read your MRI but what is she talking about with the Methotrexate? The time to start it is as soon as you are diagnosed-in order to prevent any early signs of RA that might show up on your MRI.

look for wore places, flatten areas where two bones meet
but your changes might be so small you can't tell the differences

I was shocked when she said she just didn't want to start mtx too soon. My dh has psoriasis and they gave mtx to him like it was no big deal. not to downplay psoriasis but he has no other symptoms except derm, and I think RA is a bit more serious.

at any rate, I called again and the nurse talked to me. There are significant erosions and she wants to start treating it right away. I am going to post about the rx this in the main so as not to get off topic but I can choose between mtx & arava.
