Hi all,

I am new to this forum.  I am 62 and just got my first Social Security check last month.  I just scheduled surgery to remove both my Pisiform bones in my right wrist and then the left.  Both are hurting right now. The right wrist is scheduled for August 30 and the left is scheduled for September13th unless my Lumbar back fusion (L5-S1) gets scheduled first.  I have been fighting the pain in the back and tingling in both legs clear down to the soles of my feet for 3 years now.  I have had physical therapy and several shots over the past year.  My pain doctor finally referred me for surgery.  I have already had surgery to replace both knees, the base of both thumbs and my right shoulder, all due to arthritis!!!  I inherited arthritis from my Mom. The surgeries have all worked well so far. :-)

TommyH: Good luck with all three planned surgeries! I've had both pisiform bones removed as part of wrist surgeries in 1991 and 92. I had the wrists fused with a screw and ruptured tendons repaired at the same time. I cannot flex my wrists but I can rotate my hands without pain. I've been happy with the procedure.

I've just had my right shoulder replaced and am tempted to get the base of the right thumb repaired this winter. I'm up to Had my L4-SI joints fused about three years ago and I'm pleased with the results. I am up to 13 surgeries for RA.
