sulfasalazine

I was told in January that I was being tested for RA....my Dr put me on Sulfasalazine, Folic Acid, Cymbalta, Naproxin....and for a while it seemed to be working...but the last week I am so achey....I hate it. My husband and I are raising our 4 year old grandson and some days I barely make it. My right thumb locks up and my new RA Dr told me it was trigger thumb...I am not buying that...I think it is from the RA. I did blood work July 21st and have to wait til my next appointment on the 22 of August to find out the results....is this normal...I ache so bad sometimes...and the fatigue is terrible....is anyone else on these meds?

The Dr I had in the beginning moved back to China....I have only seen my new Dr once...so I am not sure he is.
I am taking four pills a day of the sulfasalazine...and I hate it. Do you remember which website you saw this on. I am
fairly new to this and am still learning about all the meds for RA. I really do look forward to learning more and sharing with everyone. I am really glad I found this site.

Also, make sure your drinking plenty of water with that medicine, and don't be alarmed that
it's (Sulfasalazine) an antibotic, as it's also used to treat RA. It's an older RA treatment. I
tried it but I could not tolerate it well as that combined with the sjogren's dried me out to much.
Make sure to get eye appointments most RA medicines can effect the eye, so do
follow up with a good eye doctor.....

I took sulfasalazine for Ulcerative colitis...it didn't seem to help the RA at all.

Why has your doctor not put you on one of the new biologicals, such as Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, etc. Sounds like he is treating the symptoms...meanwhile the RA is destroying your joints! These drugs prevent the progression of the disease, not treat the symptoms.
