I took my second injection of cimzia on Monday and still having a lot of welling and pain, mostly in my hands but today the legs are hurting too.  Can anyone tell me how long before they felt results from Cimzia?   Am weaning off my prednisone , down to 5 mg a day and take last pill next Monday.

Hi is the Swelling & Pain due to injection or normal for you ? keep us informed on progress please

i have had Humira & stopped it after problems looking at Cimzia so any info on progress would be interesting

I'm pretty sure it's the arthritis that's causing the swelling and pain and that the Cimzia either isn't working or just needs time to kick in.   When I started on the Humira it took several weeks before I noticed a big difference soI'm just trying to wait it out for awhile.  Did you all see the new warnings on the TNF drugs?  As if the warnings aren't already scary enough, now they say we are more at risk to get Legionella and Listeria.   I wish they could come up with a drug that works but doesn't have such scary risks.   Guess we haven't got  a whole lot of choice if we want to have some quality of life.

good luck with your search for a new drug.   There are a few others that my rheumy mentioned too, Simponi and orencia are a few she mentioned.  I tried remicade but had a reaction (rash all over) so didn't continue on that.  It's like playing Russian roulette, if it doesn't kill us - maybe it'll help.

this question is just as much for me as for you and involves the prednisone not the cimzia. My rheumy has me on prednisone and plaquinel. He told me that we will have to ween off the prednisone slowly and hopefully the plaquinel will be in full affect by the time we get off the pred. He has me taking a 9 month weening. thats 1 mil a month.
My question is, is taking 5 mg a day OK to just go off? You said you were on 5 mg and Monday would be your last pill. Isn't 5 mg too much to just quit? If it is ok to quit on 5 mg then why is my doctor keeping me on it till I get all the way down to 1 mg? Just curious as to the reasoning of my doctor versus what I have read about prednisone and your quiting at such a dose??

good question, I don't know why our doctors are giving different info unless it  has to do with how much you started on.  My prescription was for 40 mg for 2 days, 30 mg for 2 days, then 20mg, 10 mg and repeat above.  Then when I got the first cimzia injections on Aug 22nd she said to take 5 mg for 2 weeks and then stop.   I have been on the pred before and stopped after taking the 5 mg with no problem.   What happens if you don't wean off this stuff, I really never knew.
