My thumb surgury is coming up soon, my thumb was in alot of pain for months, but now that my surgury is coming up , it has eased up on the pain. The xrays showed I needed the surgury, but now I am confused as to have the surgury or not. What to do?

Go for it. You know you need the surgery and the pain will come back.

I agree, if the surgeons think you need the surgery you are better off going for it while you're less inflammed, more chance of it healing well.

i agree it is in your best intrest especilly if it is now less swollen as golitho said less chance of problems, and if you put it off you may have a longer wait to get it done again and meanwhile your in pain. and hay whats the worse it dosnt help and you have a sore thumb as it is now, but if it dose help turn

ANYONE EVER REGRETED HAVING THUMB JOINT REPLACEMENT?. I DON'T KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THIS SURGURY. IS THERE ALOT OF PAIN AFTER?

Sorry, I have no tips. The only thing I ever had in a cast was my right foot.

But, I do want to welcome you to Healing well.

Please post as often as you like. We love hearing from everyone whether it be to ask questions, vent, or just talk.

Let us know how your surgery goes. Maybe you will be able offer some suggestions (concerning your question) for future members based on your own experience.

I'm new to the forum.  I've had arthritis in my thumbs for a number of years and have been getting cortisone shots.  In between I take way too much Ibuprofin, but it's the only thing that helps.

I'm exploring having thumb surgery to replace the joints and am wondering if anyone has had experience with a hand surgeon in Atlanta.  I would greatly appreciate some input as I'm scared to death of having surgery.
