I Feel Like I'm Walking On Rocks

Anyone else ever have the feeling they are walking on rocks?  I'm taking Humira nd it has helped a LOT with fatigue and other joints, but my feet and ankles are being stubborn.  If I get too tired, or don't take my pain meds on time, I get to the point that I can barely walk.  It feels like I am walking on rocks.  So strange.

Oh Vannie my theme song is that old one that goes "walking on broken glass" cos thats how it feels and when i have those days i try to cheer up and sing walking on walking on broken glass !!!!

Oh, my! So you know exactly what I am talking about, BadDay. I wear really good shoes with custom orthotics, but when my feet start to "flare" or whatever, I have trouble walking. I did try ice the other night, and that seemed to help. BTW, I know that song. I wonder if we are close to the same age. I am old. LOL I was born in 1954.

Vannie, will hope that your feeling better soon...at least the ice helped you.
I guess you'll start having to take more breaks thru the day, even on the
good days...wishing you many good days ahead...

Oh my goodness!!!!  I tell everyone its like walking on golf balls and my feet and ankles wont bend so stairs are difficult. you take them 1 by 1 like a child does. absolutely no flexibility. tarsal bones feel like they want to snap in two.yukkkk.

I feel your pain.     lol.   walkin on broken glass  Ive to remember that.   a little humor

I hope my shot of Humira tomorow helps. I almost wish I had some wheels to get around on. LOL Thanks for your responses. At least I know I am not alone, and that helps.

LOL Vannie you Are OLD Not  nono  i was born 1959 so about the same age . i have been slack on the shoe department and should buy better ones but most "normal"shoes Hurt and i tend to either not ware any when home or just little cheap slip on's i do have 1 pair of good boots with cushioned sole they help, i also have some UGG Boots but i find them Heavy and have enough trouble lifting legs as it is but i like the sheep lambs wool insides -soft !

soaking in Epsom Salts also helps

yes Gypsy i know what you mean when i am able to walk stairs (no more than 3) but i limp one at a time as well,do you find going Down is Harder than Up? i do.

Vannie  i Really Hope the Humira works for you it can take some time so don't dispare if no change straight away.and remember ice Before - and after and Dont Rub - hold

Hi, BadDay,

I am due for my next shot this evening, and I am SO ready. The second shot made mw feel so much better, but it wore off after ten days. Ugh Tonight will be my third shot. Maybe it will start lasting two weeks once I get a few more shots under my belt, so to speak. LOL I woke up stiff, stiff, and more stiff this morning. Had a dentist appt at nine, called and cancelled it. I am going to get ready for work soon. Feeling better since the meds kicked in.

BadDay,   Down is absolutly the worst! you feel so out of control. my sweet family want to help but all i want to do is cling to the railing because i hurts so bad and i dont want to fall.  all of a sudden today my knees are in such a flare that even sitting absolutely still they keep throbbing!  Im seriously thinking about taking a percacet and i dont normally take pain killers because my ex....was a phamaceutical " over partaker" so it has me extreemly scared of them.  but this pain is so sharp and non stop i want to scream.   i felt ok earlier today.... went to DR. took 24!!! exrays of hands feet and knee"s  and NO joke! 7 big vials of blood and 3 smaller ones . OMG!!!! I feel like im glowing now in transelvania!    oh well, i know you all know what this is like, im just ready for some relief..... shocked

(Sorry i have a sick sence of Humor i realize)

i do same hubby goes to help me down steps but it's not that i don't trust him just i Know the rail will Hold and i hobble Down, its a weird thing as i dont seem to bend at the knee more of a rocking motion.

i find sitting Really hurt But now have a Recliner chair so my legs are elevated and now thats the only way i can sit for longer than a few minutes. i know where you are comming from i have Blood taken so often im on first name basis with one of the nurses as i get blood taken then when the results come in it's go back have it again so there i am back within a day or 2 they even use the same needle hole - Seriously they did !

they can only get blood out of my right arm now as my left one has decided it just wont give Any more, i had one new nurse take blood a few weeks ago i told her only right arm but she saw the old holes and said Nah we can use left one WELL She Poked proded twisted jabbed re jabbed untill finally i'd had enough and said GIVE UP ALREADY ! so she went to right arm and pop first go then filled the 5 Tubs. shocked

hi bad day,

thats exactly what i'm having today badday. its 4:27am where i am and i was woken by extreme pain in my ankle and foot. i have some indomethacin they gave me in the hospital when i was in the emergecy room a while back for the pain. so i popped one of those. i'm 39 yrs old i also know the song you are talking about. thank goodness for music cause it can bring humor to a very painful day for us.

Sorry to hear your having a Down Day also seems Worse at 4am dosn't it ?

 and yes i tends to use songs to either get thru or to pretend it isn't there, i know some days im switching between tears and werid laughter when singing that song "wwalkking ooon BBBroken ggglass" cry cry ha ha cry

sometimes it gets to the stage where you simply have to laugh cos theres nothing else left.

really hope you feel better, have you tried the Hot /Cold treatment for feet? either get 2 buckets one hot one cold or simply hold foot over tap run hot water (obviously not to Burn,but hot as is comfortably Hot) then switch to cold water then back again repeat etc , i think it confuses your nerves and eventually foot either goes numb or stops hurting,i do it also when i get hot itchyness to my feet.
