I'm off to the ortho in a short while.........

I fell a couple of weeks ago, and thought I was okay.  Well....maybe I was/am, but my lower back is in such an uproar that I can barely walk. I've taken Tramadol, Prednisone, Celebrex...and Soma. I am still in enough pain that I cannot rest.  So, my RA friend who is also an RN has convinced me to go in for an xray to make sure I don't have a compression fracture.  Ugh.  The drive in will be a painful one, but I can do it. I can do it. I can do it...........

Thanks, Denita. Doc xrayed my back...no fracture! Thank goodness! I got to see the OA in my left hip. Actually, it just looks like a long white line to me! She prescribed Soma, 2 wks of PT and to use my cane and come back after Christmas. She also said to always call if/when I take a tumble because RA softens all of your bones. Never heard that before, have you? I am going to try to go to work tomorrow, but will ride with my DH, since I will be on major drugs. Ortho also told me RA can attck the lower back, too. Great!

Thank God I havent had any falls, yet! But I do drop things. And I cannot go up stairs with anything in my hands. I have to hold onto the rail and the wall to get all the way up without losing my balance or stumbling. Its scary sometimes, really most of the time.

I am fairly new to RA but not to fibro. I have been suffering for well over 5 years. First fibro, then RA. I still do not know which pains or symptoms are from which? Its all crazy and never boring thats for sure.

I am glad that your xrays were clear and hope that pt goes well for you.

What I would like to know is why doctors cannot tell us what to expect at certain times, or stages, of our illness. I know everyone is differant but there still has to be some similarities amoung everyone with RA, and, at different stages of it??

I have been complaining of balance issues with my doc and not once did he say that it goes with the territory of RA.
