I was diagnosed with RA (and fibromyalga) seven years ago, and have received Rituxan treatments every four months since. In Feb. of 2011 I developed sinus infection, which turned into staph. I have been to National Jewish Medical Center in Denver many times, and they diagnosed me with Sjogrens, but cannot clear up the staph in the sinus. Due to infection, I have not had Rituxan since May of 2011, and am suffering, stiffness, swollen joints, etc.
I have had eight rounds of antibiotics since Feb. of 2011, and staph continues. National Jewish wants to do surgery to remove excesss sinus tissue in hopes of getting rid of staph. I have appointment with local ENT next week, and am keeping my fingers crossed, but am not hopeful for resolution after one year of unsuccessful treatment. Rheumatologist will not proceed with Rituxan until infection clears up.
Sjogrens is causing very dry lips and mouth, and perhaps is affecting the sinus problems.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thank you sincerely, Mary.
