Arthritis Meds with Heart / Clotting Issues

Hi,

I usually post here for myself, but this time I'm posting for my dad.  He's recently been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.  It's his feet that are affected and he is limping around as its' very painful to put any pressure on them.  i know there are meds out there like biologics, but the problem is he has heart issues as well as a clot in his lung.  So he won't take any meds as he doesn't want to risk another life threatening clot or a heart attack (and he's on meds for both of those).

Is there anything safe he can take?

Also, are there any other non-medical treatments he can take?

My heart breaks seeing him like this.

I can't offer any suggestions other than some of the DMARDs like sulfasalazine. Or perhaps methotrexate. There are lots of people on the psoriasis forum with psoriatic arthritis. You might ask there: https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=50

Thanks.  I didn't notice there was a psoriasis board (although I guess that's more the skin part of it).

Supplements can give a little relief, fish oils, glucosamine have given me a little help. Also berries, especially blueberries have a natural anti inflammatory response. Plus I haven't tried it but I've read apple cider vinegar, 2 tbs in a glass of water is suppose to be good too.

My rheumy swears by fish oil, 2 grams a day, have them with your meals.

Thanks golitho.  Yeah, for my own joint issues I take omega 3 and did take tumeric for a bit. My dad's not into the natural treatments and to be honest, although they may help the inflammation a touch, I know that they won't bring it down when it's so bad. 

Oops...did i just contradict myself?  Guess I should also ask if there are any safe meds when you have other health issues?
