I arrived at 7:50am was checked in and called back by 8:00am, She put the rubber tourniquet on my arm and gave me a small injection of Nuclear Dye, where they usually take blood from, I honestly didn't feel a thing. She then told me to come back at 11:00am. But to make sure I drink at least 24 ounces of water to help flush the dye out of my system and help it only stay int he bones.
I arrived at 10:50am, (I like to be early) and was called right in, was asked to empty my bladder, and she had me lay on a table with some machines at the foot. Nothing scary, I was asked to place me hands at my sides, lay still and breathe normal, she placed a pillow under me knees for comfort:)
The whole scan lasted 20 minutes.
I felt more closed in at the beginning, because the scanner comes very close to your body, but with my eyes closed, relaxing my breathing, and thinking of the beach, I was able to get over the hardest 5 minutes, after that the scanner moves slowly down your body and your face is able to see the cieling again:)
I was then able to watch the screens to see what area was being scanned and what it looked like:)
I had alot of white spots, but I beleive that was just where the dye collected because of my moving joints, but I am not 100% on that until i recieve my test results...
I was given this full body bone scan due to being dignosed with fibromyalgia last week...
So now I am at the hardest part... Waiting for results...
I hope my description has helped anyone getting ready for this test, it isn't that bad!
