I apologize if this is in the wrong thread but this is where I found Spondylitis topics so hopefully someone can help me. If I told you my whole story we'd be here forever so let me attempt to make this more brief.
I went to my rheumy today (2nd appt w/him, follow up from blood and urine testing back in March) and he told me I was severely vitamin D deficient (should be around 40 and I'm 11.8). He wrote me a script for 50,000 units of vit D. He says that all the major pains all through my body could be bone related because my body is robbing calcium from my bones, etc.
He then mentioned Spondylitis and said he needs me to go to the hospital on Monday to have a bone scan (you get a shot of some type of radioactive stuff then come back later for the scan).
He said that some inflammatory factor (I apologize for being ignorant of the wording, this is all new to me) was 40 and that was too high for a 33 year old woman.
I'm in pain every second of every day of my life and have been this way since last August when I stood up from my sofa and all of a sudden had the worlds worst back pains. The pains got worse, responded to no medications and have made life hell. My right hip and left knee also burn with pain so badly that I was using a wheelchair to try and grocery shop for my family.
I started physical therapy in March and I go 3 times a week for an hour and a half of stretching. I also go to an arthritis class at the YMCA three days a week for an hour. We originally thought I had Fibromyalgia but now we aren't so sure. Between my reg dr and my rheumy and my therapists we really need some solid answers to come up with a good game plan.
I'm also a type 2 Diabetic which doesn't help the situation at all. I currently take Prilosec for GERD, Onglyza and Glipizide (max dosages) and Victoza injections (1.2mg) for the Diabetes. I take Flexeril 5mg 3x a day, Tramadol 50mg 2pills every 6hrs for pain and muscle spasms, Elavil 25mg at bedtime to try and sleep, Iron (ferrous gluconate) 27mg 2x a day for anemia and constant diarrhea after gallbladder surgery years ago.
I'm just so tired and hurt so much. It's all overwhelming. I don't even understand what Spondylitis really is and I'm trying to read up on it but I read up on Fibromyalgia and now that may not be the answer. I can't work or go to school because of the pains. My medical leave for cosmetology school ends next week so I have to return or drop out and lose $12,000. I'm just at a loss here. Nobody I know has even heard of Spondylitis and I guess I'm just looking for people who understand what I'm going through ya know???
I don't even think this was a post, more like a rant??? I'm sorry. Just lost in my feelings.
Thanks for listening.
