Cant take the pain much longer

   Hi Everyone,

   I have an appt with an R/A DOCTOR next week per my GI DOCTOR.

I'm surprised I can type right now. I have the worst joint issues in my fingers and hands. I wake with my a few of my fingers bent and it takes hours for them to unstiffen. It scares me.

   Does ibuprofen help a lot with the joint stiffness?

I have Ulcerative Colitis and on Remicade for it so thats when the pain and stiffnes started but its got a lot worse in just my hands. I'm just depressed I'm so tired of being in this pain. I'm forcing myself to type to get some answers.

If you have UC should you be taknig ibuprofen?
You are already on remicade that actually should be helping with the stiffness-if it isn't then it really is time for a rhuemy to take a look at things-maybe methotrexate
If you are in that much pain talk to your docs about pain meds-sometimes we really need a little relief.

Hi Jovigirl! Sorry about the pain you are in. Hopefully you will begin to feel better. I also have UC and Ibuprofen is what I take for the pain. I try to not take it on an empty stomach, but that is a good practice for anyone, as all of the pain medications can be hard on the stomach. It doesn't take the pain away, but it makes it bearable, most of the time. I started on Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, and now I'm taking Cimzia. None work very well for me, but my GI doctor thinks it may be helping keep my UC in remission.

hi everyone,

i took 600 mgs of ibuprofen and a tramadol last night and absolutely no relief. that alone scares me, if my pain is that bad and the 2 together didnt even help me.
i dont take ibuprofen barely ever but last night i wanted to feel better. i was so upset. i'll be calling the r/a doctor tomorrow and pray she takes my insurance.
my uc doctor recommended her at my last apt with him last week.
dont want to feel like this especially all summer with fun things to do.
thanks everyone for writing me. its so nice to know we all have each other to understand each others pain.

I agree you should not have to suffer the way you are! If you are on Remicade and I consider that to be of last resort ( I have RA) when it comes to meds, it should be giving you some relief when it comes to joint pain and stiffness.  Please contact your rheumy and see if he can give you a Medrol dose pak, or a short course of prednisone until you can chart out a plan for meds to go along with your Remicade.

  hello,

  i see my sports medicine doctor on tues. i've called so many r/a doctors either they dont take my insurance or they dont have opening till the end of the year. i got my hand's xray'd last week. i hope my sports med doc can give me something. she gave me voltaren gel but its done nothing to help. i feel helpless. i want to get back to enjoying life again and use of my hands. typing this email is killing me.
