Happy Saturday !
I have a question. I went to have an MRI on both of my hands and wrists. My physician wanted to get a baseline for the inflammation in my hands/wrists. Scheduling this was a nightmare. I wanted to get both sides done in one appointment. The scheduler told me that it takes 40 mins a components. i.e. right hand - 40, wrist -40, left hand - 40, wrist - 40. I said okay, that's fine. I can't keep taking time off from work. The day before my appt they called and said "whoops, we can't accommodate all of that at one time" I wasn't happy and told them that I have had this appointment for 2 weeks and now the day before they are telling me this? No one looked at the schedule in all that time? Well, they apologized but had to reschedule me to another time for at least one hand. I told them I'd come in but it needs to be all of it, both hands and wrists. They accommodated me this past Friday.
I got to my appt on Friday and they brought me into the room. I looked at the size of the machine and asked if that was the "open" mri because that was why I booked it at their facility. The tech said "oh sorry, no, this is a small machine".. GRR I was annoyed but I wasn't leaving. I'm claustraphobic which is why I asked for the open mri.
Anyway, the tech positioned me on my stomach/side and put my hand in a contraption that held it in place. I had to lay perfectly still for 40 mins. It's pretty hard to do in the awkward position I was in but I did it. This only got my hand, no wrist. So then they had me take a break, stretch and do the other hand. Well, 5 mins into laying on the other side/stomach I got a spasm in my neck and had to press the emergency buzzer to get out. Awful. I think because I was laying on the other side for so long, my neck was locked up.
So now the tech puts me on my back, and has my arm and hand over my head behind me. They tape my hand down into the contraption thing again and in I went. I was okay until about 20 mins in and now my shoulder was starting to hurt. I tried thinking about something else, anything to get thru it. They finally finished but made me stay in that position while the radiologist reviewed the mri. He wanted 1 repeated on that side and then 2 on the other. Yikes. But I pushed myself to finish it. The tech said that I was a trooper and that most people can only do one component, i.e. hand and then they come back another day. I made it thru both hands but I have to go back on Wednesday to get my wrists done.
(Sorry this is so long) So my problem now (and question). Both of my shoulders, biceps are having muscle spasms. I think it is from holding one position for 40 mins and they were uncomfortable positions, awkward. I can feel them jumping and when I put my hand on the area, I can feel it with my hand. It's been doing this since last night. I can't say it hurts but it's repetitive and feels uncomfy.
Has anyone had this? If so, what did you do? I have some expired flexeril left over from a year ago and I took one last night. It made me super sleepy. But the spasms continued all day today.
Not sure what else to do . Hope you all are having a good weekend. turn
