about 5 years ago I was diagnosed with some type of arthritis. It started in my big toe joint and after a few months of suffering thru that, my knee swelled up and I finally got to a rheumatologist. I eventually went on Humira, but only for about 6 weeks and then I got pregnant and stopped using Humira altogether. My arthritis flares stopped and I was good for 5 years (my doc said pregnancy is a natural anti-inflammatory).
Now its 5 years later and I have been having a bad year. Last year I had awful issues with my achilles tendon. Its been over a year and still not completely healed. Then I was lucky enough to get plantar fasciitis. Now my knee has ballooned up again just like it did 5 years ago. I have been to see my PCP but now I am waiting on an appointment with rheumatology. Unfortunately I cant get in to see them until 10/8. Until then I guess they just except me to grin and bare it.
I went to the ER the other night and they gave me 5 days of prednisone. It worked great, I could walk again! But now that the 5 days are up I am barely able to move again. My primary doc is supposed to give me a 3 week tapered dose of prednisone to get me some relief until my October 8th appointment. I'm assuming the rheumatologist will put me back on Humira once she runs the right blood work, since it worked very well for me last time.
I'm not looking forward to HUmira again but I am looking forward to being joint-pain free.
