A question about spondylogenerative changes - new to forum

I'm a Crohnie but I have a question for my mother. She is 70 years old and a couple of months ago she was diagnosed w RA. She was put then on pred and NSAIDs. Also, she is diabetic and she suffered in 2009 from pulmonary embolism. Her back and chest kept hurting her. Last week, things became worse so she had to undergo a chest angio CT. She did it and these are the results: multiple actelactic changes and these have to do w the lungs as far s I can understand. There are also: spondylogenerative changes are noted w evidence of large marginal osteophytic lipping. . What does this mean? I browsed the net but found no clear answer. Are these changes in the chordal spine? Are they due to arthritis? I'm worried esp that she is old.
Any replies will be highly appreciated.

For better answers in regards to the spine, you might want to copy and repaste this in the chronic pain forums, to me it sounds like your mother is suffering from chronic back pain which might mean physical therapy once she gets her lungs cleared up.
Try reposting this in the chronic pain forum and your mother has my prayers and it sounds like she'll need a lot of help, maybe go with her to her doctors appointment and ask him/her what all this means, write down your questions and try and go with her to the doctor.

P.S. the lung problems can be linked to RA, not sure if the spinal issues are.
Dictionary spondylosis is term referring to degenative osteoarthritis, of the facets joints, ect...

Spondylo refers to the spine. I assume you meant to write degenerative changes instead of generative. As one ages, the bones in the body that move, at joints and the spine, deterioate. Even a persoon in there 30s will show some deterioation in the spine. It's wear and tear damage.

The osteophytic lipping means that bony protrusions are lipping around the spine. This too is pretty common in the older population. Given that your mother is newly diagnosed with RA, this may be part of the degeneration but here rheumatologist should be able to explain this to you both.
