Mine were made by OTs at the hospital. I have working splints as I my work involves lifting weights and resting splints.
They were moulded using warmed plastic that was form fitted to my wrists and has to be adjusted occassionally as they swell or whatever. They are held in place by velcro strips and I wear a sock compression bandage under them.
They do get exceptionally sweaty but help so much.
I have had a pair made from wetsuit material but they don't give me the same support as the hard plastic ones.
The resting splints are larger, don't allow as much movement but are good when I just need to give my wrists a break. I use to wear them at night to sleep in if the pain was bad.
Hope this helps, golitho
