Just so other Canadians know about CPP disablity .
make sure you really put every little thing on the forms and go over your med forms that your doctors fill out. Here is why i,m saying this.
I have had RA for 7 years have been working all my life running large printing presses and never asked the Gov for help.
Last Aug the pain was getting really bad and having a hard time doing my job. So i stop working and send my forms in to the Gov office and take my forms to my family doctor .
In Nov i get a call from CPP asking me for the doctor forms so ok I go and see him and told he will do them around Dec so I call him he wants me to come in so i,m thinking great there done. Wrong he want to weigh me and take my height and then he will call me when there ready. 2 weeks later i get a call he wants me in so here i go again walk in and he asks me what parts are hurting on me and asks me what drugs i,m on REALLY he does not know at all so I give him a copy of my drugs i carry in my wallet. Oh but the form is not done yet. one week later I go in and he signs the form and I look at it he has just attacked my photo copy of my drug list ( so lazy ) . Now i have been going to this doctor for 5 years He asks me any other problems YEAAAAA heart attack in May 2011 High blood pressure had a stent put in .
He knows nothing about me .
so I send the forms to the Gov and get a call 2 weeks later saying the med form was to late so they are going to have to restart it so another 4 months easy. They ask me if i had tests said he did not say any thing about test on med form I tell them yes every 2 months i get blood work done and have have xrays. they said that the only thing my doctor said on for was that i had RA . So on April I get a call from CPP telling me they are sending a form to my RA doctor i say ok .
then they call me at the end of April asking me for the forms from the specailest I tell them you guys sent it to him call him oh no we cant do that for you .So finally he sent it in . May 15 I get a letter saying I can not get CPP disability that i should be able to work . So i call and ask them at what have the time I have a buzz on from the drugs so i,m not running machinery. tell me to go work at MCdonalds .
so make sure you really wine on your forms and dont hold any thing back thinking you are a cry baby put it all in there . and really watch what your doctor does.
So much for Canada having such a good health system I guess I just don,t know how to play it .

Geez, sorry that you had to go through all that. Hate to disappoint you but many people in many countries go through that, if they are even allowed to get benefits. It's not the health care system but the stupid people working there. Your Dr. is the one who made a mess of it in the first place by not answering the questions exactly(they know better).

My Rheumy filled out the forms and there was no problems with it. And he knew me well. I didn't have a lot of accumulated work time since I was young, so I had to apply for the other disability after that bit was used up.

I called twice and got 2 different Ladies. They both said that my Hubby made too much money(we had 2 young children back then). I was upset. My Hubby made the 3rd call and spoke to the Angel who got us through the whole process. She came to our home for an hour and a half interview and filled out the forms herself. That's the way it should be for everyone. I was in too much pain to play the martyr. I agree...Whine a lot.

Hopefully you will be getting a better Dr. in the future and take your medical records with you. I take it, you have to start over with the CPP process. I wish you much luck next time around.

Yes I have to start over after 9 months of waiting . I tried for the Ontario disability and they told me also that we make to much money as my wife works . The problem is I can,t find another Doctor as I live up north and just lucky to find one here and the RA doctor is down in Orillia so lots of traveling to see him.
Just ticks me off that I worked 45 years and now I look for a little help and not happening.
I guess I have to take a deep breath and relax a couple days and then work it out from there. I have my native stat so maybe I will contact the band office see if they can help . Don,t want to pee off the natives lol just kidding .

I don't blame you a darn bit Tom for being ticked. You have every right to be. That's YOUR money.

What you might do is fill the forms out yourself truthfully and get the Dr. to sign it with the same pen that you used to fill the form out with and maybe add a short note if he needs to add more info or numbers. Then mail it yourself. I did that with another Dr. for something else(cuz they don't like filling out forms). He read it,signed it no problem.

Similar stuff happens to all of us at some point in life. Well sure, if you have the native stat then certainly use it, if it is easier. As they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat(I think that's what they say :D ). You know not to fill out the forms with the gov and the band at the same time though cuz that will mess stuff up again since it's put on the computer.

LOL! You're welcome Tom. A few days to relax and start again sounds good.

WOW, thanks for the information.

I live in Canada and dont know much about the Ontario government disability system, but want to know all about it since I know one day I will likely have to stop working because of my RA, and i notice most posts about disability are posts from the States, so its nice to read something about the Canadian system.
