If you have been to a doctor and after appropriate tests the outcome is that you do not have arthritis, you MAY have Polymylgia Rheumtica. Symptoms can be similar. If you do have that condition it is treatable and should go away within two years. I was unable to turn from right to left or visa versa in bed without using my hands to pull one leg over the other. Rising from a seated position was painful and it took a few moments before I could start walking. Pain going up and down stairs, back pain, leg pain, etc. I was diagnosed in 2010, and was put on a 10 day regimen of a steriod. The condition disappeared quickly, but returned within about a month. I refused arthritis medications because of the possible long term side effects. Instead I asked my doctor for another 10 day steriod regimen, which she agreed to do. The medication took two days longer to take effect the second go round, but it worked and though the pain did return it never was as bad as before taking the second regimen, but some pain remained for many months. Bottom line is I'm free of the condition, and it did take about two years for the symptoms to pretty much go away. You must do PT and exercise if you wish for a good oiutcome. Check with your doctor.
