Hi Ellenrose and Welcome!! :)
Sorry that you were dxd. with PMR and RA. Seems similar to RA except for the age and smaller joints not being involved. Also the Pred. working but pain trouble when lowering of it. Many 50+ aged RA patients may have this also and not even know it. Thanks for the info. :)
You will learn many tips about
medications and info about
RA from these Wonderful people who share their experiences and researched knowledge. Hopefully you will be in remission soon after some trial and error with different medications for RA, if the meds for PMR do not help too much.

Hello, nice to meet you, sure wish we were meeting under better circumstances than RA, however, Hello!
Being so new to RA can be very scary, so you probably have loads of fears and questions, for some answers you can use a google search for, and there are two great magazines out there on RA, do not let RA scary you it is treatable and some go into periods without symptoms...hopefully the methotrexate will help you, make sure to ask your doctor about
supplementing with folic acid to help with side effects of mtx.
You can also go and read back postings on here however do not respond to older posts as those people that started the older posts might not be on here anymore, but by reading up on RA can help you and gives you info on dealing with RA.
Many many well wishes and hello!
