How has hip replacement affected knees with rheumatoid arthritis?

I am thinking about having a hip replacement (due to osteoarthritis). I am 82 and had a stroke so I that concerns me. Has anyone had a hip replacement with rheumatoid arthritis in the knees? Did the operation help decrease the knee pain? I am really interested to find out about people's experience with this.

Thanks for welcoming me. The doctor thinks a hip replacement isn't as bad as having my knees done as they are very painful operations. The consultant said he could do the hip replacement, but I have to wait to see what the anaesthetist says.

How did you father get on with recovery from his hip operation?
