I went on Humira one month ago. The results at first were pretty amazing. Within a few days I felt way better, my swelling was down and I was beginning to taper off of the 30mg a day of prednisone I had been on.
This week I was finally at 5mg of prednisone and was looking forward to stopping on thursday. Wednesday night I realized that the pustular psoriasis I developed from Enbril had come back and my hands had been pretty sore off and on most of the day. Still no swelling but I have noticed a few other things as well over the last month and I wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar.
My eyesight while on Enbril was getting bad. Im in my 40's and went to the eye doc and needed glasses. Ok, fine. I got them. While I was off of the enbril I noticed that my eyesight started getting better. I as wearing my glasses less often. After a month on Humira I can't read the numbers on the speedometer of my car if I take my glasses off. I have to wear them all the time and my eyes seem to be getting worse.
Also, I am starting to have sinus problems just like I had while on Enbril which all went away when I went off of it. I have also noticed the fatigue is setting back in along with mental fog that makes it really challenging to do my work. It seems like I can't concentrate on things as well.
I am feeling pretty bummed out. The psoriasis coming back was something I was hoping to be able to avoid. I talked with my nurse and my doctor is recommending I go back up on the prednisone until things are settled out with my RA. I read up on long term use of prednisone since at 3 months of it I would say Im heading in that direction and Im worried that at this point I won't be able to get off of it.
I shouldn't complain. I am still feeling much better than I was but it's really hard sometimes when a med will make you feel really good and then the side effects or effectiveness of it starts to wane. I worry quite a bit and I know I can not do much to change the situation and need to let it go. If you made it this far thanks for taking the time and I hope you all are well. -Don
