Hi, has anyone on here switch from embrel to humira? Dr. wants to change me thinks the embrel is not working. Bloodwork levels are still real high. This is so nerve wracking this disease is so painfull. confused   Is it normal to feel so down and depressed? Going through so much right now glad to have this forum so hard to talk with family about this they really don't understand the amount of pain that I have at times. confused   Please any in put about this would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Have ra, osteo in both knees and degenerative joint disease in back along with some nerve damage in shoulders. Meds are rayos, tramadol,butran patch,flexirel,singular,nucynta,protonix,zocor, Norvasc and Lopressor also methotrexate.

Hi, yes its normal to switch meds. I was on Humira first then
switched to Enbrel. I hope the Humira helps you.

How long did you take one before changing to the other. My son is on humira for 7 mons and it seems to be not working

Hi,

I was on Enbrel for 12 years when I switched to Humira due to the enbrel losing effectiveness. I have been taking Humira now for 2 months along with Prednizone due to repeated flares.

For the first 3 weeks or so the Humira seemed to work really well. I felt much better and was relatively pain free for the most part. After 3 weeks I had a pretty good flare up and have continued to have them off and on for the last month or so. I have been using prednizone to help with these until God willing the Humira really starts working consistently.

I do feel better but when I decrease the prednizone dosage I flare up :(

Unfortunately, most medications stop working with RA after a time as the body adapts to whatever method is being used to treat the disease. I have been on several over the years and Enbril lasted the longest but also gave me pustular psoriasis which kicked in right at the time that the medication stopped working effectively.

I have had many years of productivity from using biologics which have helped with the disease. I struggle with the side effects and my fears regarding them. I hope that it works well for you and that you are able to live pain free as a result. I am grateful for the time I have had on them that have helped me be a good dad and husband.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I was on Enbrel for 5 months and the dr didn't thing it was working hopefully the humira will work. So scared of the side effects that both of the drugs have, its such a scary thing to think that a drug can give you hurt you one way when its supposed to help. confused

I was on humira for a few years and it stopped working. I was put on remicade first and found I was allergic to mouse protein, then came orencia which worked bt never as good as humira and after a year I asked to go back on humira and give it another try. It's now working again wonderfully!
So from my experience its worth trying different meds until you find the one that works fo you.
It should only take 2 months to see if the humira will work for you.

Hi I'm new to this site. I've had RA for 12 years and had great success with Enbrel until recently diagnosed with Peripheral Poly Neuropathy. I then went off Enbrel and all meds for 4 months while controlling neuropathy with Gabapentin. "Big Mistake". Can't be off all RA drugs without causing a very painful flare. Can't walk right now. Started Humira & Prednisone. Waiting for relief from this crazy debilitating pain. Nervous about side effects, but don't know what else to do. It is hard to discuss with family & I find myself distancing my friends. I am grateful for this site. I know you can all relate to the pain & struggle with side effects of meds.

I didn't switch from Enbrel to Humira but I was on Humira for about a year and now switching to Xeljanz. As someone else said, it is very common to have to switch medications. It seems, with some of us, the meds stop working after a time and a change is necessary. As far as feeling down and depressed, yes it is normal. Especially if your pain is not under control. I have a high tolerance to pain but after a week or so of going through a flare, I will have days where I am depressed and emotional. I think it is because my body can only go through so much without an outlet.
